« Placenta Print - 'heart womb' »

Nestled underneath her heart, she carried you along side her sweet child. You divided from the first cells that became her baby, a tender connection often forgotten. You nourished her child, and provided comfort in the womb. And now, I hope she has found comfort and peace in touching you and creating art and medicine from this beautiful organ.

Mother and I nearly silently worked together to capture some gorgeous placenta prints, using blood as natures paints. This was one of the last images to be captured, as she spiraled the umbilical cord atop the placenta. The image is stunningly touching, heart shaped placenta with the form of a fetus curled up inside, reminiscent of the womb.

What a perfect symbol of love. I am amazed that this organ is seen as a biohazard and thrown by the wayside when it embodies an entire pregnancy. Absolutely beautiful print!
