« Benefits of Placenta Encapsulation »

I'm very pleased to announce that I will now be offering placenta encapsulation in addition to my doula services!

If you have a placenta waiting for a purpose in your freezer, it can be used up to 2-3 months after birth (or up to 6 months in a deep freezer).

Some of the benefits of consuming placenta include;

  • Stabilizing hormones, reducing your chances of postpartum depression and assisting in treating PPD (Post Partum Depression)
  • Reduction in postpartum "Baby Blues" which is not classified as depression, although can be very alarming.
  • Reduced feelings of anxiety
  • Increased energy
  • Increase in milk supply, and also to help bring in milk faster.
  • Decrease postpartum bleeding
  • Helps uterus return to pre-pregnancy state
  • Replenish lost vitamins & minerals (specifically iron) due to pregnancy and birth (the freezing process will destroy vitamin B complex but all other vitamins remain intact)
  • Can help with sleep problems
  • There are many uses of the dried placenta in compress form, including diaper rash, nipple care etc.

Have someone else do the work of caring for your placenta and preparing it to assist you postpartum.

Have any of my readers consumed their placentas? Share your experience.
Do you have any questions and want to open some dialog about consuming placenta as medicine?

@Suzanne,I'd defrost it and smell it to see if it is still fresh. It should be treated as a meat product, which I don't any experience in being vegan.

The midwife suggested 2-3 months in a regular freezer, so I'd err on the side of caution and follow those guidelines. There are many beautiful uses for your placenta.

Hope you find this helpful.

Amber i am totally interested in this encapsulation process. How do you come about those little capsules and what is the process you go through. I would love to try this with mine after baby arrives.
